2009....here I come

Back from Germany! Haven't been online much over the holidays, so here a wee update. Last weighin before xmas was 19st 1lb....and after a week of eating like it's going out of fashion I had my WI yesterday, and unbelievable but true....I haven't gained any weight!!!!! Haven't lost any either, but hey, I'm still chuffed to bits. Especially after the amounts of food we have been eating during the last week.

Anyway, back on track now, so bring on 2009. I'm very exited and praying that I can stick to it this year and complete my challenge. Some other new years resolutions I will try to follow:

- Actually 'run' the race for life

- Learn how to play the bagpipes

- Do some serious gardening

Well thats all for now....see you in 2009 xxx

The Challenge

I've decided that I want to lose 33 kilos until my 33rd Birthday....which is in September.

Which means the following in numbers......From the day I started till my B-day its 43 weeks, which means if I lose about 1 kilo a week I should be abled to make it, calculating in x-mas, slowing weighloss and getting stuck on a plateau. I have already lost a stone, which is about 7 kilos so I'm on my way.........

On the mend....

It took a while, but after nearly 3 months of suffering my body finally took on the meds and I slowly started to feel like a person again and not like a slob. My GP put me on Reductil which I have been taking for about 7 weeks now.

I also decided to join a slimming club again. After 1 session at Scottish Slimmers, which I really didn't like I decided to go back to Slimming World. I found a group in the next town and just started going again. The group I found is great, it's a good lot and we have a laugh and the support is great. Our group leader Ally really enjoys what she does and I have the feeling that she enjoys it a lot more than my last leader did.

I have been going for 5 weeks now and so far have lost 1st! I'm chuffed to no end, it's a great loss in such a short time.....and it's not that I'm starving myself lol......I even decided to set myself a challenge!

Thyroid issues......

As mentioned before I did the race for life in June and shortly afterwards moved to a new house. Well through all that I got really tired and run down....I couldnt even walk down the street without getting cramps in my legs. I thought it was just from all the stress, but I just couldnt get my energy level up. At some point my legs really started swelling with water retention and I kept gaining weight. At that point I decided to go to the doctor who suspected a thyroid issue and took my blood and told me to call in a few days time for the results.

Funny enough he called me back later in the afternoon and told me that the lab called him and informed him that my stats were pretty bad....usually T4's should be between 9 and 25, however mine were around 3....so he prescribed me levothyroxine which I have to take for the rest of my life. Well over the next few weeks I didn't really feel much of a change, still cramps everywhere and really worn out.....

A few weeks later tho I slowly started to feel better...less cramps, no more water retention. But my weight just did not start going down. My doctor advised me to wait another month until my stats were more back to normal and then she would put me on Reductil to see if that helps.

Look at that....I'm still here....

...and still trying to lose weight. Well, we are 10 months on and have I lost weight since I've last written here? The short answer to that is: NO!!!

I don't even know where to start....well, I continued losing till about April/May and got down to bout 17st I think....then I went on holiday in May which was absolutely amazing by the way and I obviously did not followed any sort of diet there, it was all inclusive after all. When I came back I just did not get back on the wagon.....I still went to the gym and also did the race for life in June (in 45 mins) which I was immensely proud of.

Shortly after that we moved into our new home and I was just crazily busy getting everything sorted.....not realizing how my health was going downhill...but that deserves it's own post.....
